From late summer until autumn red deer stag stalking takes place and ends with the rut (mating season) which normally begins in late September and lasts into late October. After the stag season, attention switches to hind stalking which is also a selective cull. The season runs from October until the middle of February. See our calendar for red deer stalking vacancies.

Red Stag Stalking
The stalking we provide takes place in Glen Loy which is all open hill ground with hardly any tree cover. Once the deer are located on the hillside getting close enough for the shot can be extremely challenging, more often than not ending in a crawl to reach the firing position. A stalk will often take most of the day as you walk through the rugged terrain to find the deer.
The stalker will then select the beast which is to be shot with the objective being to cull older or weaker adult stags. All successful stalks result in the stag being retrieved by Argo-
STAG ARE SOLD ON A PER HEAD BASIS regardless of how many stalkers or observers are in the hunting party. Please contact us for up to date pricing.
A typical week-
Hind Stalking
After the stag season, attention switches to hind stalking which is also a selective cull and the stalker will guide you on which deer is to be shot. The season runs from October until the middle of February. HIND STALKING IS SOLD ON A DAILY RATE per rifle per day. Contact us for up to date pricing.
Red Deer Stalking Equipment
Clients can use there own rifle but this is not essential as a professional quality, accurate hunting rifle and ammunition can be provided. Clients should bring good quality waterproof and camouflaged clothing including strong waterproof walking boots and people should have a good level of physical ability as often a stalk results in a long walk without a path over rough hilly terrain.
